Primary Musical Theatre Program (Grades 1-3)

This class is designed to introduce students to the joys of musical theatre. Students will learn the fundamentals of acting, singing, and dancing through fun-filled acting and improvisation games. Emphasis for the primary students will be on building confidence and developing storytelling abilities. Our movement lessons will introduce them to simple choreography, rhythm, storytelling through dance, and staging. Students will learn to sing as a group, memorize lyrics, and combine acting and movement with vocals. Above all, we will work to build confidence while having a whole ton of fun!

Junior Musical Theatre Program (Grades 4-6)

Bursting at the seams with fun, our junior musical theatre program has enhanced focus on skill, stage confidence, and collaboration. We will be learning a variety of musical theatre classics and original music composed by the Performance Studio facility and its affiliates. Teaching includes basic stagecraft: voice projection, character embodiment, and, of course, all things “yes, and…”! Musically, we will delve into harmonies, complex rhythms, beginner sight reading, ear training and vocal style. Choreographically, we will explore intricate movement patterns and staging with some emphasis on basic dance technique. Opportunities for students include solos, duets, small scenes and songs, as well as large, ensemble musical numbers.
